Fake tan contains a non toxic chemical called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts with the air and the amino acids in the top layer of the skin, causing it to gradually darken. Only the uppermost skin cells are affected.
Yes, it is completely safe! Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is non-toxic and the skin darkening reaction is confined to the top later of the skin only β nothing is absorbed into the body. This is highlighted in the way that a fake tan fades away slowly as the skin cells undergo their natural regeneration process and flake off the body.
It takes just 20 minutes for a top to toe spray tan! Itβs super quick, hassle free and promises to create a flawless finish. Once your skin dries you should pop on some loose clothing to avoid creating any marks on the skin, wait for the colour to develop and wash the solution off in the shower.
Remove any unwanted hair a couple of days before your sunless tanning session. This is especially important if you tend to wax your legs and underarms because it gives time for your open pores to close up. If fake tan is applied immediately after a wax it can lead to a spotty finish and possible streaks. Be sure to moisturise as well in order to hydrate the top layer of skin cells that will react with the clever darkening ingredients in spray tan solution.
Your radiant tan will last for about 5 to 7 days depending on how well you care for your skin following your treatment. If you moisturise your skin regularly and avoid using harsh shower gels and soaps that can cause the colour to fade, your burnished tan will look glorious all week.
When fake tan was first created it did have a tell tale βbiscuityβ smell. However, modern formulations are scented with sweet fragrances that are highly effective. Many of our products contain natural ingredients that rejuvenate the skin, improve elasticity and reduce the risk of developing cellulite. What more could you ask for?
The active ingredient in spray tan is Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is a non-toxic chemical that reacts with the outer layer of the skin to create a beautiful glow. It does not enter the bloodstream or penetrate further than this outer layer, therefore thereβs no reason not to get a spray tan when pregnant. However, we recommend that clients in their first trimester do not get a spray tan.
Itβs worth bearing in mind that when you are pregnant, your skin is often more sensitive and therefore more prone to irritation. As a precaution, we also recommended consulting your doctor before getting a spray tan when pregnant.
You absolutely must not exercise in the eight hours after your spray tan. This is because the sweat and friction caused by workouts will ruin the beautiful, smooth finish of your tan. Once you have washed off your spray tan, you can go back to exercising as normal. We recommend wearing seamless, breathable workout clothing and moisturising after your post-workout shower.
As little as possible! Try to wear dark coloured, floaty clothing and avoid anything tight which could leave rub marks on your fresh tan. Wear flip-flops to avoid rubbing the tan off your feet.
We advise waiting 48-72 hours after your botox treatment before spray tanning to allow your skin to settle down.
Well that's an easy answer! Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. It really is as easy as that.
Clients can get wary of spray tanning because theyβre too shy to reveal their body to a tanning therapist. They feel embarrassed about scars and marks or just find it a bit uncomfortable. However, the thing to remember is that itβs totally up to you how much of your body you choose to reveal. Youβre in control of your tanning treatment from start to finish.
The only piece of advice Iβd give is that you wear something dark that you donβt mind getting tanning solution on. The product will wash off, but avoid wearing your favourite bikini/underwear in case it becomes discoloured or stained.
Yes...I recommend you use a sunscreen with an SPF of 20 or more.
